The more I (very little) use it, the more I think Meetup really sucks at what they do. I believe the idea was good initially, and it had quite some appeal to all the people that feel like they need to belong to a group, a team, people that need friends (don’t we all…?). But eventually, they killed the The Goose that Laid the Golden Eggs (by the way, funny it’s a goose in English, but just a chicken in French… go figure… is the British more of a poet?), and they made a site that costs too much to organizers, that is hard to use, that shoves useless boring meetups down your way, and that some people tend to confuse with a dating site.
So, I decided to build my own.
